5 Tricks to Tell if You've Met A Stoner
Wondering if your new friend smokes but don’t want to outright ask?
It happens every now and then, coming across another person we like and want to get to know. Some of us have no problem asking others if they’re into weed, though others prefer to remain more subtle on the topic. Many professionals tend to hide their cannabis use for the sake of their reputation or for legal purposes. But if you’re curious about someone’s preference when it comes to the great ganja, it would be wise to take into consideration these tips that can help you determine if someone’s a possible pothead.
Ask for a Lighter
First, rule out if they’re a cigarette smoker or not. If they are, forget this tip. But if they’re not a cigarette smoker and they regularly carry a lighter with them, chances are it’s for the green herb. You can make up an excuse to ask for a lighter if you’re not a cigarette smoker – say you want to burn off a stray thread you found on your jacket or hat.
Ask for Eye Drops
A great deal of smokers don’t leave their house without being prepared. Red eyes are a clear sign of recently smoking ganja, so eye drops are almost a necessity when venturing into public. Ask the person you’re investigating for eye drops, and if they pull them from an easily accessible place (pocket; side compartment of purse…) then it’s a sign you’re getting closer towards finding out the truth of their consumption habits. If they have red eyes but no eye drops, a stoner will usually become self-conscious of their eyes and either ask if their own eyes are red or make a comment about how their contacts are bothering them.

Offer to get Munchies
A common side-effect of cannabis consumption is increased appetite. Many stoners will either carry snacks with them or buy snacks at opportune times. Try offering your person of interest an odd combination of snacks – like hot Cheetos and a brownie. Chances are, they’ll both be seemingly good to the stoner, or they’ll have a hard time picking only one.
Check Out Their Scent
That’s right, smell them. After smoking weed, there’s usually a bit of the plant’s scent that lingers in their clothes. If you can get close enough to them, try to smell it out. However, the majority of people that smoke also are aware of the smell that accompanies the habit, so they’ll douse themselves in cologne/perfume. If you realize they’re swimming in cologne/perfume – then that can also be a sign they’re a smoker.

Bring Up Cannabis as a Conversation Topic
In a conversation, simply bring up the subject of cannabis either regarding the news or a business. You can even say something like, “I wonder what a dispensary looks like inside,” or something of the like. A consumer will have only positive things to say about cannabis, so they’ll likely make a comment that tips you off on whether or not they’re a consumer themselves. They'll always be against prohibition, so if they're for legalization - bingo.
