Smoke, Vape, Eat, Drink, Dab or Drop?
Easily choose which method is right for you from this guide.
It all depends on what your motive is. Each way of consumption will cause the high or stone to take over at different time rates and some are more convenient than others. Take a look at all the pros and cons of each way of consumption and decide which method is right for you.
Smoking Cannabis
The most common method, smoking can be done via a pipe, bong, or blunt. It’s extremely convenient if planning to buy flower, but there are more cons than you’d imagine. Despite its conveniences, it can hurt/burn the throat and lungs since you’re basically inhaling a flame (unless it’s a bong). It also can get pretty smelly, so you might be toting around the sticky icky aroma with you out in public which will make it obvious you’re blazed (though you could carry it in Scent-Concealing Luxury Handbags). But another upside – the high/stone can be felt quickly.
Vaping Cannabis
Vaping is healthier than smoking, for the most part, with fewer risks harming the lungs. There’s two different ways of vaping – actual flower or a concentrate like hash oil. It’s also far less stinky having a very faint and often sweet aroma. This makes it better for those times when venturing into public. However, there lies the issue of purchasing both a good vaporizer and some good flower/concentrate. If a new user, vaping too much can too easily occur, leaving the mind floating in another dimension while trying to figure out what to do next. Again, vaping, you’ll feel the high/stone quickly which can be a pro.
Eating Cannabis
Consuming cannabis by eating it is on the rise. The best part is that it comes in a plethora of candies and baked goods. With legalization on the rise, entire meals that are infused are growing in popularity. It can take around 45 minutes for the body to digest and the high/stone to occur – which may leave some feeling impatient while others take delight in this delay. There aren’t too many cons when it comes to foods, except not knowing one’s own tolerance levels or the amount of cannabis in the food. This method is best for those that know how much to consume and when to stop.
Drinking Cannabis
Not many drinks infused with cannabis are out quite yet, but the ones that are will slowly being growing in popularity within the entertainment industry. This method is just like eating cannabis, it’ll take up to 45 minutes to feel the effects. The only real downside to this method is that it might taste a bit like the cannabis itself, but most don’t mind. Also, more frequent stops to the restroom… Despite this, it’s great for those wanting to consume while keeping the carbs (from food) at bay.
Dabbing Cannabis
For the experienced, dabbing cannabis requires a lot of equipment and is best done at home. It also can be stinky since you’re burning concentrates with a blowtorch. If you’re not afraid of this method, have the right type of “pipe” (rig) and have high tolerance levels, this is a great option for you. But only if you’re consuming at home…
Dropping Cannabis
By dropping, I simply mean placing a few drops of cannabis tincture under the tongue. This is a quick method, it’s the easiest, requires the least amount of equipment (a dropper that comes with the tincture bottle), and is extremely convenient (fits in pocket/purse without stinking it up). You can make your own tinctures to do this with: How to Make a Cannabis Tincture. Be warned though, it may not taste that great. However, effects begin taking place rather quickly since it absorbs into the bloodstream via the blood vessels and capillaries beneath the tongue. Ensure you’re where you need to be when using a tincture and don’t overdo it – one too many drops can have you floating a bit too high on cloud 9.
The best methods for public outings would have to be dropping, vaping, eating and drinking. They all smell the least with vaping and dropping giving way to effects quickly while eating and drinking allow the consumer some time to plan where they want to be when the effects kick in. If spending an evening at home, smoking and dabbing can be your best friend so long as you don’t mind a bit of a cough or burn in the throat.
