How to Make Your Weekend Last Longer: 6 Tips
Don’t let it zip by - get the most out of your free time.
A weekend consists of 48-60 hours, depending on when you get off work and start once again. If you’re like me, you may be wondering why it seems to slip by so quickly – with the saying “time flies when your having fun” popping into mind.
That doesn’t have to be the case. All we have to do is change our perception of a few things, and our weekend will seemingly become longer. Here’s a few tips on how to maximize the pleasure gained during your time spent away from work.
Keep Your Sleep Schedule in Rhythm
It’s tempting to sleep in two, three, maybe even four hours on the weekend. It’ll feel good that day, allowing you to stay up longer on a Friday or Saturday night into the wee hours of morning, but this is ultimately detrimental to our perception of both time and waking for Monday’s goals. Wake up within an hour of your usual wake time. Keeping our circadian rhythm on point will help to not only maximize our hours of free time, but it will keep us healthy in the long run.
Try an Energizing Sativa in the Morning
Are you a coffee person? Maybe, need a boost in the a.m. just to get your energy kickin’? There are numerous sativa cannabis strains to try that enhance energy and focus. Why not try waking and baking to see if it’s a weekend lifestyle that suits you? An energetic strain will get you pumped in the morning, allowing you to tackle the fun pursuits you’ve planned for yourself or with your loved ones. It can help you cut down the time spent on trying to “wake up” and get ready for the day.

Schedule Your Weekend Ahead of Time
It seems so simple, but truly, it gets rid of the stress your brain deals with when planning the weekend during the actual weekend. Know where you plan to go and who you’re going with ahead of time so that last-minute phone calls are avoided and seeing if reservations are needed is of no concern to you. That way, once the weekend finally arrives, you’ll simply enjoying every moment preparing instead of stressing over whether your friends can come and if they’ll like the venue for the night.
Prioritize the Day Your Weekend Begins; Coming Home
It’s been a long, tiresome week, and you’re ready to relax your brain and body. Don’t allow the first of three nights in your weekend to go unnoticed, splayed out in front of the T.V. Once you clock out and have left the building, do something that could possibly incorporate making amazing memories. This doesn’t mean you have to go crazy. Schedule a spa session, go for a relaxing walk while smelling and picking wildflowers, go over to a friend’s house and play some karaoke, go rock climbing as the sun begins to set… Whatever you choose to do – either relax, begin the party, or engage in a fun but brutal workout session, don’t allow the first night of your weekend to slip by.
Plan Cool-Down Time When Your Weekend Ends
Ensure that you’re not heading into the newfound work week with a hangover or delayed flight home. If you’ve got work at 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning, ensure you have eight full hours of sleep prior, along with a solid hour to get ready in the morning, and a solid hour of preparing for bed the night before. This would mean being at home ten hours in advance to going back into work, with a clear head and enough time to settle back into the upcoming week. You’ll never regret having enough time to cool down and prepare yourself mentally for a successful workweek.
