Drunk vs. Stoned vs. Both?
Do you combine them both safely or prefer one over the other?
If you’re visiting Vegas, you’ll want to maximize the amount of pleasure gained in any way that you can. This means knowing when a drink or joint will enhance an experience or when they can ruin it. Being cautious of what you’re putting into your body and brain while enjoying Sin City is the smart thing to do, and you’ll thank yourself once it’s time to leave the party.

Shot of Liquid Courage vs.
A Strain of Green Bravery
A lot of people I know like alcohol because it “loosens them up”. They enjoy the relaxed feeling; the nonchalant ego that accompanies a good cocktail. Alcohol can erase anxiety and build the daring to begin a conversation, but too much will be accompanied with slurred words or drooping eyes.
Weed, in the other hand, can also erase anxiety. It, too, has unfortunate side-effects such as red eyes or cottonmouth, but they’re easily fixed with eye drops and water.
Combine a little bit of both, and it’s easy sailing from here. Not only will a small amount of alcohol help “loosen” you up, but the right sativa strain will perk up your conversation carry-on, producing far more interesting topics to throw into the playing field. The trick is to keep both alcohol and cannabis at low levels in your system – the alcohol relaxes the mind and body while the cannabis enhances that sensation. It’s best to consume sativa with alcohol if planning to go out, because indica and alcohol will have you wishing for your bed.
Two shots & Call Me in the Morning vs.
Two Bowls and Sleep in ‘til Noon
The hangover. It’s one of the worst sensations in the world, and what’s worse, you know you’re the one that did it to yourself. “I’m never getting drunk again,” commonly escapes our lips, but we all know it’s a total lie. I don’t think I’ve ever heard, “I’m never getting this high again.” Well, maybe once, but she was having a total melt-down (she was drunk too).
There aren’t many painful side-effects to cannabis. A rare few report having a headache after consuming too much, but I feel like they probably smoked some stem by accident. Who really knows until there’s clinical trials. I’ve known more people that smoke it to calm their headaches.
If consuming a lot of both, still expect a hangover from the alcohol. Unfortunately, cannabis doesn’t deter alcohol’s negative effects. But consuming a ton of both will lead to an extremely fuzzy night that you might regret in the morning.

The Experience of Combining Medicine & Poison
Cannabis is a medicine - just take a look in the papers of states that’ve legalized it. Health miracles are happening every day involving the use of the plant for things such as Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy. While alcohol may have some health benefits in smaller doses, they’re shadowed by cannabis.
Consuming a sativa strain that stimulates the mind and drinking alcohol will usually produce mild euphoria, the inclination to socialize, or the desire to discover and adventure. An indica strain that relaxes the body and drinking alcohol creates mild sedation, a tranquil demeanor, and a pain-free experience: you’ll mellow out. Great for spa days.
But combining them to have a good time safely is something everyone’s going to be trying. On one hand you’ve got alcohol that’s a depressant. On the other, a plant that can create either the effects of a stimulant or depressant. It will be up to the consumer to choose their experience.
