Ferrari’s technical partnership with Cadillac F1 Team starting in 2026
Ferrari to supply power units and gear boxes to Cadillac
Cadillac is set to join the Formula 1 grid in 2026 as the 11th team, backed by a new technical partnership with Ferrari. As part of this collaboration, Ferrari will supply Cadillac with power units and gearboxes until the American manufacturer is ready to launch its own engine, expected to be completed by the end of the decade.
This move marks a significant milestone for both Cadillac and Formula 1, as the sport continues to expand its presence in the United States. With Ferrari’s expertise in powertrain development, Cadillac will have a strong foundation for its entry into the highly competitive world of F1.
Ferrari currently supplies engines to Haas and Sauber, but with Sauber transitioning into Audi F1 in 2026, Ferrari will maintain its position as an engine supplier for multiple teams by bringing Cadillac into the fold.
Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: "It’s great to see the commitment of another American team, backed by one of the most highly respected marques in the motor industry, at a time when Formula 1 is increasing in popularity in the United States."
Similarly, Cadillac’s newly appointed F1 Team Principal, Graeme Lowdon, acknowledged the importance of selecting the right power unit supplier, saying: "Choosing the right power unit partner is crucial, and we trust in Ferrari’s passion, excellence, and the exceptional capabilities of their people."
With Ferrari’s extensive technical knowledge and championship-winning experience, Cadillac has a valuable partner to guide its entry into Formula 1. This collaboration ensures Cadillac will be competitive from the start, laying the groundwork for its future as an independent engine manufacturer in the coming years.
