Ford Performance to Race for Overall Victory at Le Mans in 2027

Ford will enter LMDh car to compete at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans

Ford Performance has officially announced its return to the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2027 as a full factory team. The iconic American automaker is aiming to compete in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, targeting an overall victory with its LMDh car in the Hypercar class.

Bill Ford, Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company, expressed the significance of this return, saying: “When we race, we race to win. And there is no track or race that means more to our history than Le Mans. It is where we took on Ferrari and won in the 1960s. It is where we returned 50 years later and shocked the world by beating Ferrari again. I am thrilled that we’re going back to Le Mans and competing at the highest level of endurance racing.”

While Ford has not yet disclosed additional details about the program, they plan to share more information later. This announcement comes on the heels of Ford Performance’s successful collaboration with Proton Competition, entering its second season in the WEC with the Ford Mustang LMGT3.

Ford’s most recent Le Mans achievements include a class victory in 2016 (LM GTE Pro) and a third-place podium finish in 2024 (LMGT3). With its sights set on the overall win, Ford is looking to repeat the triumphs of nearly 60 years ago, when it first conquered the prestigious race.
